What Exactly Is Tan, Next to White and Clay?
Tan is a light, soft, warm beige in our Standard Solid catalog, a smooth even neutral with no wood grain to it. It is the plain, easy sandy beige that adds warmth to a home while keeping a quiet, low profile. Beside the other light solid, Tan carries a touch more warmth than White, where White stays pure and a shade cooler and frames the popular White-and-Tan two-tone.
Clay is the warmer, deeper earthtone, so Tan lands lighter and softer than Clay. Buyers meet this same warm-neutral crowd under names like sand, beige, and adobe, all look-alike names for one soft stretch of color. The rest of the vinyl color palette runs thirteen more shades beside it.
Which Homes Suit Tan, and Does the White-Frame Two-Tone Work?
Tan is the forgiving one. Its soft warmth eases into beige and tan stucco, warm brick, and sandy earth-tone exteriors, and it tends to suit desert-modern and craftsman homes as readily as a plain ranch. Does a Tan Fence Stay Cool and Keep Its Color in the Sun?

Like White, a light warm neutral throws back most of the sunlight that lands on it, so it runs cool under the hand and ages slower than the deeper shades we build. On the tone scale it falls a hair warmer than pure White, comfortably cooler than Clay, and far below the darkest wood grains, where sun and fade press hardest.

Being honest, no fence color stays put forever outdoors, and Tan will ease a hair over the years, though it gives up about as little as anything we build.
