Can vinyl railing be painted?
No, the vinyl railing cannot be painted because the paint will not adhere to the surface. The vinyl railing is made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) which is a thermoplastic. This means that it can be heated and molded into different shapes. It is also a non-polar molecule, meaning that it does not dissolve in water. Paint is a polar solvent and will not dissolve non-polar molecules like PVC. Therefore, the paint will not adhere to the surface of the vinyl railing and will eventually flake off.
