Vinyl and Aluminum Fencing for Monrovia Hillsides

Fence Contractor in Monrovia

Your Monrovia fence gets racked to the actual slope, not measured flat, so the line follows your grade and stays inside the city’s own height rules.

Foothill lots don’t get an off-the-shelf fence here: we’ve shaped vinyl and aluminum in-house, serving the San Gabriel Valley since 2018.

Vinyl and Aluminum Fencing in Monrovia

Monrovia’s foothill lots and older flat-land blocks both call for a fence that’s built to the grade, not just the tape measure.

A phone estimate gives you a range, but the figure that holds comes after someone stands on your Monrovia lot, reads the slope carefully, and puts the full scope in writing before the crew is ever booked.

Fencing for Monrovia’s foothill lots

Monrovia rises into the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, and a good share of its residential lots aren’t flat. A fence built for level ground looks wrong, and works worse, on a slope: gaps open up at the bottom on the downhill side, or the top rail saw-tooths up and down the hill instead of reading as one clean line.

We rack both vinyl and aluminum panels to the grade so the top line follows your slope smoothly instead of stair-stepping it, whether that’s a gentle rise in the backyard or a steeper drop along a hillside property line.

Services we offer in Monrovia

Vinyl work in Monrovia covers privacy and semi-privacy fencing, picket runs, ranch-style rail for larger foothill parcels, pool-code enclosures, and wall toppers that add height to an existing block wall. In aluminum we build privacy and semi-privacy panels, picket fencing, and gates, single, driveway or rolling, powder-coated to match the property. Every gate is framed to stay square over a wide driveway, even one set on a grade.

What shapes the cost of your fence

Every Monrovia estimate comes down to the same factors: total footage, the height you need, material, number of gates, how much grading the slope itself requires, and whether an old fence has to come out first too. Smaller or oddly shaped jobs many crews turn down are work we take on happily. A phone estimate is a fine starting point; the number that holds is the one written after a visit to the property.

Height and corner-lot rules in Monrovia

Monrovia’s municipal code sets front yard screening at 4 ft, and side and rear at 6 ft. Corner lots carry an added rule: within 5 ft of the street-side property line, height drops to 3 ft to preserve sightlines for traffic and pedestrians.

Wrought iron without points or spikes is allowed up to 8 ft. Verify current thresholds with the city’s Planning Department before finalizing a design, and check your HOA’s CC&Rs too, since community association rules can run stricter than the city’s own code allows.

Built to hold a line on a slope

Vinyl carries its color all the way through instead of coating the surface, so it doesn’t chip or flash white on a foothill lot’s harder edges and doesn’t need repainting after a hard season. Aluminum carries a powder-coat finish rated Class A for flame and smoke, holding its color panel after panel on the steepest run we build, from a foothill backyard all the way down to a flatter lot closer to downtown Monrovia.

Color on a Graded Lot

A foothill lot puts a fence in full light most of the day, and neither palette minds that. Size is the real difference: vinyl runs to surfaces as well as shades, aluminum to a few cured finishes. Material first, tone second.

Vinyl: Three Surfaces

The biggest of the three vinyl groups is the smooth grain set: six of them, Coastal Cedar and Slate Gray included. Plain solids number four on one side of it, textured blends four on the other, and relief is the split. Gates match.

The Metal Finishes

Fewer decisions on the metal. Panel and picket styles come in black, in white, or in wood grain. Contoured slats stay with matte black alone. Custom finishes do not exist. Powder fused in an oven is why a sunny slope does nothing to it.

Height, Style by Style

Every span in the table belongs to a style, not to a yard. Yours narrows once the purpose is clear, the ground under the run is measured, and the limit set out above is applied. Stepped or level, the panels are cut to fit.

Fence Installation in Monrovia, CA

A foothill city older than most of the valley

Monrovia incorporated in 1887, the fourth-oldest general-law city in Los Angeles County, and today it’s home to roughly 38,000 residents set against the San Gabriel Mountains, with Monrovia Peak rising above the north side of town. That long history shows up in the mix of older, well-established blocks alongside newer hillside development higher up the foothills.

Monrovia's foothill city center and neighborhoods appear beneath the mountains in this elevated view

Flat blocks below, hillside lots above

The city’s older, flatter blocks sit closer to the valley floor, while newer development climbs into the foothills toward the mountains. That range means lot shapes and grades vary a lot street to street, and a fence plan that works on one block can need a completely different approach just a few streets up the hill.

What the foothills mean for a fence

Sloped ground is the defining condition here. A fence racked to follow the grade keeps a consistent look along the property line and keeps the bottom rail close enough to the ground to matter for pool code and general containment, rather than leaving a gap at the low end that widens as the slope drops away.

Height rules, in brief

Front yard fencing tops out at 4 ft, side and rear at 6 ft, and corner lots drop to a 3 ft maximum within 5 ft of the street-side line, a rule aimed at keeping sightlines open at intersections for drivers and pedestrians alike. Confirm current rules with the City of Monrovia’s Planning Department before finalizing a design, and check your own HOA’s CC&Rs too, if one applies to your property.

Monrovia Fence Installation, Step by Step

Our Four Steps

A Monrovia fence project splits into four parts, and on a foothill lot the grading step matters more than most: get the slope read correctly early on in the process, and the rest of the job goes the way it’s supposed to.

Materials, height, color and price are locked into your contract before any post goes into the ground.

  1. Your Free Site Visit

We walk your Monrovia lot in person, read the slope, measure the run, and hand you a written figure, not a guess.

  2. A Clear Written Quote

The quote spells out footage, height, grading needs, color, gate count and a start date before anything is ordered.

  3. Careful Installation

Footings follow the slope’s grade, panels and gates go up level, the old fence comes off, and the site gets swept.

  4. Warranty and Follow-Up

Handoff includes signed paperwork: vinyl’s lifetime warranty, or aluminum’s material, coating and steel-component terms.

Your Questions

Monrovia Fence Questions, Answered Right Here

Grading, corner-lot sightlines, and how a quote turns into a firm number are the questions that come up most from Monrovia callers, alongside the basics every homeowner asks before a fence goes in. Here’s what we tell them, plus a few points specific to this city’s own foothill lots.

Got another question?

Ring the office or drop a note, a real person answers back quickly.

Monrovia’s municipal code sets front yard screening at 4 ft and side and rear fencing at 6 ft.

Corner lots carry a stricter rule: within 5 ft of the street-side line, height drops to 3 ft to protect sightlines. Verify current rules with the city’s Planning Department before finalizing your design.

Monrovia’s code protects visibility at intersections: within 5 ft of the street-side property line on a corner lot, fencing is capped at 3 ft, well below the 6 ft allowed on interior side and rear lines.

It’s worth checking this rule specifically, since it catches people off guard.

Neighbors here fall under the same statewide rule: the Good Neighbor Fence Act presumes an even cost split on a shared boundary fence, and either owner owes the other 30 days’ written notice before starting work.

A different arrangement is fine if both sides agree in writing.

Yes, it’s routine work for us here. We rack panels to the grade so the top line follows a hillside lot’s slope smoothly, rather than stair-stepping down the hill or leaving a gap under the bottom rail.

The number starts as a phone range, then firms up on site: we measure your Monrovia lot, account for any slope or grading, count gates, and write footage, materials and price into a signed contract before ordering anything.

We cover Monrovia end to end, from the older flat-land blocks near downtown to the foothill lots higher up toward Monrovia Peak and the San Gabriel Mountains.
