Vinyl and Aluminum Fencing in Redondo Beach

For Redondo Beach homes, we install and custom-fabricate vinyl and aluminum fencing, a local dual-material crew working the South Bay.

Vinyl handles privacy and value. Aluminum brings a modern, open look. We build both to any height from 2 to 8 feet, matched to where you live, from the harbor side to the inland Avenues. Each clears Redondo’s rules, like the 42-inch front cap.

Vinyl or Aluminum, Sorted by Your Side of Redondo

Where your home sits shapes the pick. Closer to King Harbor, the open water and daily air push some homeowners toward vinyl, which is PVC and never rusts. Up in the Avenues, sightlines and street appeal often lead to aluminum, clean and modern. Vinyl comes in 16 styles and 14 colors across three families, and the color runs through the material instead of sitting as paint on top. Both come with matching gates.

What the Harbor Air Does, and What It Doesn’t

Air off King Harbor carries salt, and it treats the two materials differently. Vinyl shrugs it off: PVC does not rot, rust, or yellow in the sun, so it asks for little more than a rinse now and then. Aluminum wears a powder coat that holds up well, but read the fine print.

Its material warranty runs 20 years on the aluminum, 10 on the coating, and 2 on steel components, and it excludes direct saltwater exposure. To stay valid, the coating wants a documented cleaning about every six months. Right on the water, that trade-off is worth weighing before you choose.

Heights From 2 to 8 Feet, Plus Custom Runs

Standard privacy runs 6 feet, but your yard may want something else. We build vinyl from 2 to 8 feet, and we combine styles: a 6-foot privacy panel with a picket top, mixed colors between sections, matching gates in every style. Odd grades, short returns, a run that steps down a slope, those get built to fit rather than forced from a stock panel.

What Moves the Number on Your Estimate

No two Redondo yards price out the same, so a one-size figure would only mislead. Pulling an old fence, the grade and ground you build on, height, style, how many gates, how easy the site is to reach, each one shifts the total. Over the phone, you can get an honest ballpark. A real number takes a visit, where we measure and see the whole picture, including the things you may not know are there.

Warranty Terms and Proof You Can Look Up

Vinyl comes with a transferable limited lifetime warranty. Aluminum splits by part: 20 years on the material, 10 on the coating, and 2 on steel components, valid with that twice-a-year cleaning. On top of either material, our own workmanship warranty runs 5 years. We have built fences across Greater LA since 2018, and the five-star reviews behind that record are public, there for you to read.

Fence Services Across Redondo Beach

Privacy panels, picket lines, pool-code enclosures, and matching gates fill out the vinyl and aluminum lineup we build for Redondo Beach yards, front runs and back boundaries alike.

Picking a Finish

Lots this size put the run a few steps from the patio door, so whatever you choose gets seen close up, in detail, every day. The vinyl swatches leave you room to move. The metal ones make the call quickly.

Vinyl Swatch Groups

Texture is doing half the work at this distance. Four textured blends hold the deepest relief, the smooth grains sit between, and the plain solids stay level. Tone goes through the board, so a knock never shows white.

Aluminum Colors

Poolside runs and side-yard panels wear one short list: black, then white, then a grain passing for timber. Contoured slat profiles take matte black. Each one is powder coat, applied dry and baked on, so salt and sun leave it alone.

Setting the Height

The difference shows up fast on a lot this size, at the patio, at the pool, at the property line. So the number follows how much needs covering, the room the yard actually has, and the code limit for that boundary.

Fencing in Redondo Beach: Place and Rules

Redondo Beach, From the Avenues to the Riviera

Redondo Beach is a South Bay city in Los Angeles County, incorporated back in 1892 and home to about 71,576 people across just 6.21 square miles.

Life here bends toward the water: King Harbor, the Municipal Pier, and the Esplanade draw the crowds, while the neighborhoods each carry their own feel, from Riviera Village and the Hollywood Riviera to South Redondo and the North Redondo Avenues. The climate is warm-summer Mediterranean, with a marine layer that rolls in off the Pacific and burns off by midday.

The 42-Inch Rule Out Front

In every residential zone, no fence, hedge, or wall may stand taller than 42 inches, about 3.5 feet, inside the required front setback. Behind that setback, along the sides and rear, a fence can rise to 6 feet without a building permit. So the front stays low and open while the backyard gets its privacy.

Pool Enclosures and Corner Lots

A pool or spa has to sit behind a barrier no shorter than 6 feet and no taller than 8, and Redondo’s 6-foot floor runs stricter than the state’s 5-foot minimum. Corner lots carry their own limit: within the sight-safety triangle at a street or alley corner, nothing may rise above 36 inches, so drivers keep a clear view.

Which Redondo Fences Need a Permit

A wood fence over 6 feet, or a block wall over 5, needs a building permit. Below those heights, most residential fences do not. Here is the part that eases minds near the water: routine fences on an existing single-family home are exempt from a Coastal Development Permit, with a few exceptions.

Because rules shift by lot and zone, check your project with the City’s Community Development / Planning Division at (310) 318-0636. The height limits, at a glance:

White Vinyl Fence, Redondo Beach

This Redondo Beach property had a low, painted wood fence that had weathered over time, with sections and gates that needed replacing along the courtyard and a narrow side passage. Our crew removed the old wood and installed a white vinyl privacy system in its place, fitting the new panels along the existing low concrete and masonry borders.

The white vinyl now closes off both the courtyard and the side passage. The project also included a new gate and a fence topper along the same white vinyl line, carrying the privacy look across the full run rather than stopping at the fence panels alone.

All went well. My estimate (from David) included two options with all the detail needed for the build and pricing that did not change. The installer (Chris) was skilled and hard working, resulting in an excellent build.

Redondo Beach FAQ

Fence Questions We Hear Around Redondo Beach

The questions Redondo homeowners ask most tend to circle the same few things: corner-lot limits, pool enclosures, coastal permits, how salt air near King Harbor treats aluminum, going taller than 6 feet, and pricing a fence nobody has seen in person yet. Here is where we land on each.

Want a straight answer?

Book a free on-site estimate and we will give it to you straight.

At a street or alley corner, Redondo holds fences inside the sight-safety triangle to 36 inches, so drivers keep a clear line of view.

That rule can override the taller heights you would get mid-block, so a corner lot often needs a lower run at the intersection. Elsewhere, the standard limits apply.

A pool or spa enclosure has to be at least 6 feet and no more than 8 feet tall in Redondo Beach.

That 6-foot floor is stricter than California’s statewide 5-foot minimum, so a barrier that passes elsewhere may fall short here. Vinyl and aluminum both build to that range, with self-latching gates.

For most homes, no. Routine fences on an existing single-family home are exempt from a Coastal Development Permit, even inside the coastal zone, with a few exceptions.

A building permit still applies above 6 feet. Rules shift by lot, check with the City’s Community Development / Planning Division.

Powder-coated aluminum handles harbor air well, but its warranty has limits. It covers 20 years on the material, 10 on the coating, and 2 on steel components, and excludes direct saltwater exposure.

It also wants cleaning twice a year. Vinyl skips that upkeep, which is why coastal homes lean vinyl.

Yes, with a building permit. Along the sides and rear, a fence reaches 6 feet permit-free. Above that, a wood fence needs a building permit.

We custom-build vinyl up to 8 feet, so a taller privacy run is doable once the permit is squared away. The front setback stays capped at 42 inches regardless.

We can give you an honest ballpark over the phone, but a real number takes a visit.

Price turns on things we have to see: whether an old fence comes out, the grade, height, style, gate count, and site access. Once we measure and walk the yard, you get a firm written quote, no guesswork.
