Pasadena: the Crown City below the San Gabriels
Pasadena became a charter city on June 19, 1886, out of the Indiana Colony that settlers laid out in the 1870s below the San Gabriel Mountains. The name reads as Crown of the Valley, the root of the Crown City nickname.

This Pasadena property’s front lawn sat open to the sidewalk before the project, with no fence marking the edge of the yard. A low white vertical picket fence went in along with matching gates, tracing the property line where it meets the sidewalk and driveway.
The posts were set directly in the soil at those edges rather than disturbing the rest of the lawn. The layout was built around what was already there: the mature trees on the property stayed in place, and the fence keeps a clear view of the home from the street.

This Pasadena backyard previously had a mix of weathered wood and chain-link fencing enclosing it, two materials that never matched and left the yard without one consistent line. Our crew removed the old fencing and installed a white vinyl privacy fence in its place.
The new line runs through the soil and alongside the existing brick patio, with the layout built around the yard’s trees and planting beds instead of removing them. The backyard now has a single white vinyl perimeter running the same ground the old wood and chain-link fencing once covered, with the brick patio and existing plantings still in place.

This Pasadena property had a chain-link boundary along the side yard, covered over with bamboo and reed privacy screening. Our crew removed that combination of chain-link, bamboo, and reed panels to clear the line for a new fence.
A white vinyl privacy fence went in along the same boundary. White vinyl now runs the length of the side passage where the old chain-link and screening used to stand, following the same retaining edge beneath the trees.

A side patio at this Pasadena property was closed off by an old wood gate that had weathered over time and sat mostly hidden behind a hedge. The patio surface is stone and concrete, and it runs right up against the walls that already framed that side of the yard.
Our crew removed the weathered wood gate and put in a white vinyl privacy fence with a matching vinyl gate. The new fence spans the existing patio and ties directly into the surrounding walls, so the walls, the fence, and the gate now form one continuous enclosure along that side of the property.

Before this job, the Pasadena driveway sat open, with no fence line connecting the entry by the house to the wood gate already standing at the rear of the property. Our crew closed that gap with a white vinyl privacy fence that carries a vertical picket top.
The line runs from the house-side entry to the existing wood gate at the rear, and the new posts were set into the concrete that was already there. With the fence up, the driveway is now enclosed end to end, and the original wood gate stays in use as the back corner of the new line.
